Remedies in Spices
Turmeric

Medical use:Hay fever, depression, high cholesterol. Food use:Rice, soups, tea.
Pink Peppercorns

Medical use:Bacterial infections and colds. Food use:Sweet desserts, cookies, salad dressings, curing, pickles.
Juniper Berries

Medical use:For digestion problems, upset stomach, heartburn, bloating, loss of appetite. Food use:Flavour casseroles, marinates, curing, good with pork, game and duck.
Garlic

Medical use:High cholesterol, heart attack. Food use:Flavouring agent for dressings, marinates, curing , sauces, soups and stews.
Cloves

Medical use:Apply directly to gums for toothache. Food use:Fruit pies, relishes, chutney and pickles.
Cardamom

Medical use:Freshen your breath by eating entire cardamom pod after a meal. Food use:Chutneys, desserts, curries, rice dishes.
Paprika

Medical use: Help healing wounds, treat skin problems, hair loss, decrease risk of heart attacks. Food use: Season and coloring of rice, stews, soups like goulash soups and stews, preparation of sausages like chorizo.
Cayenne Pepper

Medical use: Reduce appetite, help lower blood pressure. Food use: Good with cheese and add a sprinkle with a variety of dishes.
Curry Powder

Medical use: Help to treat inflammation, pain, powerful antioxidant. Food use: Flavouring soups, sauces, marinates, meat, vegetable curries, seasoning of hamburgers, scrambled eggs and potato salads.
Saffron

Medical use: Use for asthma, to stop coughing. Food use: Grain based recipes like risotto and paella.
Sesame Seeds

Medical use: Aid blood sugar control, arthritis and lower cholesterol. Food use: Tahini, go well with tuna, sushi, chicken, meat, stir fries and rice dishes.
Fennel Seeds

Medical use: Various digestive problems including heartburn, intestinal gas, bloathing, loss of appetite. Food use: Fish soups, fish stock, cucumber salad, add to sort cheeses and spreads, making breads or biscuits. I use it to make fennel brittle with cheeses and also good in curries.
